- Abkyu, Inc. and Artemia Therapeutics have formed a strategic partnership to discover and develop novel single-domain antibody (VHH) candidates for Artemia’s multi-specific T-cell engager programs targeting autoimmune diseases and oncology.
- Artemia gains preferred access to Abkyu’s integrated VHH discovery and engineering platform, while Abkyu receives an upfront payment plus development milestones.
- The collaboration combines Abkyu’s purpose-built VHH discovery infrastructure with Artemia’s drug development expertise, aiming to rapidly advance differentiated therapeutic candidates from target identification to optimized drug candidate.
WATERTOWN, Mass., May 21, 2026 — Abkyu, Inc., a biotechnology company specializing in single-domain antibody (VHH) discovery, today announced it has entered into a strategic discovery partnership with Artemia Therapeutics, Inc., a biotechnology company developing multi-specific T-cell engagers for autoimmune diseases and oncology, to discover and develop novel VHH candidates for their therapeutic programs. The agreement positions both companies to move rapidly from target to therapeutic candidate for high-priority therapeutic programs.
Abkyu’s discovery platform integrates best-in-class camelid immunizations, VHH screening, selection, and engineering capabilities into a single, cohesive infrastructure, purpose-built to move programs from target to optimized candidate with speed and precision. The collaboration with Artemia Therapeutics brings together Abkyu’s discovery engine with Artemia’s proven expertise and therapeutic vision, creating a partnership uniquely positioned to deliver differentiated drug candidates from the outset.
“This partnership is exactly what Abkyu’s platform was built for,” said Travis LeGuyader. “Artemia brings deep scientific expertise and a team with a proven track record in drug development and commercialization — we’re bringing the discovery infrastructure to set their program up for success from day one. Together, we have an exciting opportunity to develop differentiated therapeutic candidates that will improve the lives of patients.”
Under this agreement, Artemia Therapeutics will receive preferred access to Abkyu’s proprietary discovery, engineering capabilities, and development expertise for their lead programs. In return, Abkyu will receive an upfront payment and additional development milestone payments.
“We are excited to partner with Abkyu to accelerate the discovery of high-quality VHH building blocks for our multi-specific T-cell engager programs,” said Luis Borges, PhD, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Artemia Therapeutics. “Abkyu’s integrated platform and deep expertise in VHH discovery are highly complementary to our approach, enabling the efficient generation of diverse binders to support the development of differentiated therapeutic candidates across autoimmune and oncology indications.”
Unlocking the Power of VHH Antibodies for Complex Disease Biology
Single-domain antibodies, also known as VHHs, offer distinct advantages over conventional antibody formats, including superior tissue penetration, the ability to access cryptic epitopes, exceptional stability, and ease of engineering. Abkyu’s discovery platform is purpose-built to harness these properties, enabling rapid generation and engineering of VHH candidates with the precision and versatility needed to tackle targets that have proven difficult for traditional VHH discovery approaches.
